Denver became the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver has been the symbol of Colorado for everyone around the world. In all my travels I have met many people who are not from Colorado. They will declare, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you're from Colorado. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver discovered that it was destined to be a huge hit after he heard an earlier version. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
